MediYoga in water

A number of health challenges can make it difficult to perform yoga on a mat or chair. Both water exercise and yoga are individually gentle, good forms of exercise, and by combining these you can experience the joy of both forms of exercise - and even an enhanced effect.

Both increased mobility, calm and balance from yoga, and the soothing and pain-relieving effect of warm water can contribute to increased mobility and circulation, less stress and pain, better sleep and well-being. Balancing the energies in the body with yoga will affect both body, mind and soul, and stimulate a deeper balance on all levels.

MediYoga shows a good effect on stress, blood pressure, breathing, sleep and pain. among other things. These good effects will be experienced by a larger group of people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in yoga classes in a hall due to immobility or pain.

Activities in water increase mobility and strength and release endorphins in the body which, among other things, help to reduce pain and stiffness. Even if you weigh less than 10% of your body weight, the resistance of the water means that you use 10-12 times more energy when doing exercises in water. You do not need to be able to swim to participate in MediYoga in water.

By bringing yoga into the pool training, these will also enjoy the effects of yoga and increase the yield from both pool and yoga training.

How does MediYoga work in water?

Training in warm water is an effective form of treatment where you use the buoyancy and resistance in the water to get a gentle and effective treatment and a good result with low stress on joints and tendon attachments. The temperature of the water should be at least 34 degrees, increasing blood circulation and mobility. The heat relieves pain and softens stiff muscles and stiff joints. As the load on the body is reduced in the water, movement in water is an excellent opportunity for rehabilitation both after injury and as active recovery.

Exercises are today an important part of life and, among other things, for those with joint, muscle and skeletal problems. Exercise and physical activity are usually included as part of treatment, rehabilitation or as a preventive activity. It is now well documented that physical activity is important with a view to improving physical fitness and reducing loss of function. The challenges many people with joint, muscle and skeletal problems often face when it comes to physical activity is that it can be painful to perform different forms of exercise.

Movement in water can therefore be of great benefit since the water relieves the body's weight. This therefore puts very little strain on the joints, while the properties of the water lead to a soft and even resistance, so training in a warm water pool (34 degrees) is considered particularly important for many with certain types of ailments. Exercising in deep water with floating sausage or other buoyancy gives you continuous training of stabilization muscles. Stomach, back and waist have to work all the time to keep you afloat and or in balance.

Hot water increases the release of endorphins and gives you a feeling of happiness and less pain. Movement in hot water is experienced by users, especially with such types of ailments as mentioned, as an important part of maintaining their own health and quality of life. Many also believe that this is crucial for maintaining a good physical shape which makes it possible to be at work. For some, training in a warm water pool is the only physical activity they are able to carry out. Recent research shows a good effect in the form of reduced pain, fatigue and stiffness during periods of pool training compared to periods without movement in the pool.
